Why would I or anybody else for that Matter trust your business why would I Trust you enough to buy from you this is A problem that is facing a lot of small Businesses and it's not your fault it's Essentially The Way of the World Unfortunately it is something that you Do have to overcome there are a lot of People out there who are acting in bad Faith and customers know this and it Makes them wary before they've even Started to consider purchasing something From you if you're not already a massive Brand but there are things you can do to Help fix that to build that trust I'm James this is WP beginner and here are Four tips that I've learned that I think Can be very helpful for building Trust In your customers the first one is Incredibly simple it's something you Probably already have or do but go and Check it and be sure if you're not sure And that is make sure you have an active SSL an SSL is secure socket layers is Essentially a way of ensuring that the Data that your customer is passing Through your website whether that be Their IP address or any other data is Completely Secure and what this means is that a Customer can see this they can go on Your website and be like ah they can Immediately start to relax because if You don't have an SSL that is a giant
Red flag this is the bare minimum of Security and the bare minimum that People expect if they're going to trust You so how do you check if you have an Active SSL the first thing you want to Do is go to your website go into to the Top leftand corner of your browser and Make sure that you have the lock icon if You have a locked lock then you have an Active SSL you can even hover over it And it will show you exactly what that Says that is essentially all you really Need to worry about however you can also Check with your hosting provider and if You have a good hosting provider the Chances are that you got an SSL when you Bought your hosting plan and that it is Immediately and already active most Hosting providers these days are great We tend to recommend blue host and I Will show you how to check with blue Host right now if you have an SSL so the First thing we're going to do obviously Is log to our account this case blue Host and our Hosting account and you can See on my main page here that my SSL is On it's telling me that immediately but If I go to security I can just double Check some of the details so here I can See that my SSL is active it shows me That you might have a toggle that allows You to turn it off and turn it on just Make sure that it's turned on and you've Got a little bit more information there
As well now what we want to do here is We want to install a plugin so we're Going to go to add new plugin and we're Going to search for really simple SSL Now what this is going to do is it's Just going to activate that SSL make Sure everything's running properly so we Have really simple SSL and we're just Going to install it it's a completely Free plugin Once it's installed stick around and Just activate nice and simple so that's Going to pop up really simple SSL on Your main screen and you can see here It's telling me my SSL is not activated So of course I'm just going to click on Activate SSL to get that going now once You have clicked on activate SSL you're Going to get a prompt you're going to Get multiple prompts now the first one Is very important you just want to Reclick on activate SSL you can also Include the information Of who your hosting provider is here if You want To now when you do this it might ask you To log in again that's completely normal Just reput in your logging credentials And it will log straight back in to this Main page that you were already on Nothing will have changed now once You've done that you're going to get a Whole bunch of prompts about do you want To take on the free plugins do you want
To upgrade to Pro you don't have to do Any of this you can skip all of it and And just finish and you'll still be able To get exactly what you need so we can See here now that my SSL is activated And importantly as long with that it Says that the mixed content and 301 Redirect are also active we want those To be active we can double check so We're just going to make sure that Everything is correct and then we're Going to go and view we're going to view That information by just clicking on View now here it's going to show you That you have your mixed cont content Fixer on that's very important and what It's going to do is just ensure that any Images you have or anything like that Are transported over correctly now that You are using a Https SSL and the redirect is important Because if you have anything that is on Your page under the HTTP system then this is going to Redirect it to the correct Https step one absolutely essential nice And easy step two let let get a little Bit more in depth and let's actually Start to use social proof let's really Ramp up the level of trust that we can Build in a very short space of time if You're unsure what social proof is it's This idea that people feel more Comfortable doing things that other
People are doing people feel comfortable Being part of the group or the herd now How do you showcase that well let's Think about it a different way just for A second have you ever gone to maybe Jump into something or onto something That is a high height and you feel Nervous about it or you've gone to a Fairground and you see a ride that You're a little bit scared of a little Bit apprehensive however you see people Also jumping from this height and They're perfectly safe they're having a Great time you have people on the Fairground ride and they're having a Fantastic time they come off and they Tell you hey that was great you should Do it well that's essentially social Proof so all we need to do is to get That level of social proof onto your Website I bought this product and it was Great or just I bought this product I Signed up for this email address for This email account using my email Address and you may now be thinking well How on Earth do I do that well it's Actually quite simple and I'm going to Show you how to do it right now so let's Get that social proof onto our web page And the way we're going to do that is With a plugin so we're going to go to Plugins and add new plugin just here Then we are going to search for trust Pulse that should pop up on the top left
Which it does right here this is what We're looking for and we're going to Install now hang around for just a Second and then click on activate that Is going to take you through to the Trust pulse dashboard which is just here And what you have is a couple of options You get started for free there is a free Version of trust pulse it gives you 1,500 unique visitors to the site or There is a pro version of trust pulse Which is essentially has a lot more Features a lot more powerful you can Have a lot more people on your website But of course that is paid so you need To work out if that's exactly what is Right for you leave links down in the Top pin comments for that one I do have A trust pulse account so I'm going to Connect my existing account once you've Done that you've got a site has been Created successfully and we're just Going to create campaign here you have a Few options of what you can add the Important one is just down here on the Free version you're going to get two Options you can either use the recent Activity campaign or the onire campaign The on fire I find is great for limited Time offers if you have a lot of people Who are going to take an a specific Action over a short period of time That's what you want to use the onire One for and the recent activity is
Better for a more General Showcase of Trust of adding that social proof so We're going to go with that today and We're just going to go next step now From here you have a ton of design Options as to how you want your popup to Work and that's exactly what trust pulse Is going to do it's going to give you Something like this that you can see Down the bottom here so this is showing Social proof some someone from New York Just made a purchase you are encouraging That this is good you can be trusted Because somebody has made a purchase you Can change the uh icon here this doesn't Have to be a map it can be your icon Doesn't have to show this kind of Information it's all customizable to Whatever you want based on what is here Including if we go to the advanced Settings everything like colors text Styling the options are huge I will Leave you to play around with that and We are going to save that oh sorry we're Going to go down I'm going to go to Next Step uh so this is capture activity what Kind of uh user activity and submissions On your site we're not going to worry About it too much today just here and We're just going to go straight across To the display rules and then to publish So we can display this on any page and Then publish once you get to publish you Get this screen right here asking if you
Are ready to launch which indeed we are So let's just launch our trust pulse Campaign so my campaign is now active This is great however mine is uh of Course a demo site that I've got running Here I have no information or data Running through the uh through the app In order to give you a really good Example of what trust pulse can do so I'm going to show you an example using The optin monster website so upston Monster is a really great powerful Conversions pop-up toour And you can see down the bottom here Here we have that just popped away Another one will pop up in just a second We have those trust pulse popups that Are giving people this impression and This idea that other people are taking Actions you can also take these actions It is safe you can trust us my next tip Is still all about social proof but We're just going to flip it and show it In a slightly different way and that is With review And testimonials people literally going Online spending their time saying this Was great and that is of course another Example of social proof so what we need To do is we need to do two things we Need to collect these reviews and Testimonials and then we need to Showcase them on our website so step one Let's collect some testimonials the
Absolute best way I found to do this on Your website and collect those Testimonials is by using a forms plugin We're going to use WP forms because they Have a really great builtin template for Testimonials so let's show you how to Use that and how to start collecting Those testimonials so on the WordPress Admin dashboard WP forms you can get From the plug-in section the same way we Did for trust pulse but we already have It installed here I use WP forms a lot So let's click on WP forms here you can See I already have a contact form Created But let's add a new Form so we're just going to name the Form Testimonials there we go and search in Templates also for testimonials now we Have a couple of options there is a Testimonial form just here now this one Here is actually only available with the Wp forms Pro Plan and it is the better Option um but you can also get a client Testimon your form but I do want to show You this one so I'm going to show you This and how easy it is and we are going To be using uh Dopey forms with the Pro Plan in order to get that so this is What our testimonials form is going to Look like we can amend and edit this However we would like for example There's not always going to be a need
For a job title in here so we can delete That if we want and get rid and you can See this satisfaction rating drag slider I think this is really really great and This is important by submitting this Testimonial I agree to the use of my Comments and personal information for Marketing and promotional purposes you Absolutely want that so this is a really Great way to get people to leave you Testimonials they fill in their details And give you a testimonial that you are Then able to use so let's save this and Get it onto a page the way we're going To add it is just go to embed and we're Actually going to put it in an existing Page so let's go to select existing page P and then what we can do is we can add This tell you what let's add it to the What we do page just here and let's go So this is the what we do page in the Blocks editor this is just the standard Page as it is however what me we might Want to do here is just to add something In to request a testimonial on this page And of course you can do it for any page At all so telling you what to do add a Block so let's do that let's go here and Then we're going to look for WP Forms it's going to give us WP forms Here and let's just drag and drop it Into this space right there then we can Select the form that we want it's the Testimonials form and that's going to
Give us an idea of what that is going to Look like so then we can start to play Around with the blocks editor however we Should like so for example we can start To add a heading so let's drag that into Here and we can change that To tell us what you Think there we go so we're starting to Build up a really simple way of getting People to give us testimonials we can Put this on our homepage if we want we Can have a dedicated page just for Testimonials I've just happens to have Added it to this particular page but When we save it we can have a look at What that looks like on the main site Which realistically is going to be Exactly like this here we go what we do Page tell us what you think there we go Somebody can fill that in you select Your satisfaction rating and add all Your details and submit that gives you Testimonials that you can then use Elsewhere on your website for example Let's take a look at another site that I've built where I've used this Technique and I've pulled testimonials And been able to place them onto the Website like this so testimon have been Left I have used them like this now the Alternative the Second Step I suppose is To use testimonials and reviews that are Already there things from maybe Facebook Reviews or from Google reviews and
Pulling them together and putting them On your website now this can be very Difficult to do if you're trying to do It by yourself however don't worry there Are tools that can help you do this I Want to recommend two different plugins For you to do this the first is Thrive Ovation which does a fantastic job of Showing you an incredible range of Options of how to Showcase these Testimonials on various different pages You can even use tags to get testimonals To show up right at the right moment in The right place it is a very very Powerful option your alternative is to Use something like smash balloon reviews Feed Pro where it will do exactly what I Suggested and you can pull those reviews From Google from Facebook and start to Showcase them either on an individual Page or on any page that is already on Your website and it's absolutely Fantastic really easy to use tip number Four is something else that maybe you Already have but you definitely want to Consider and also to leverage and that Is a strong social media presence you Want people to be able to look at your Website and be like ah I'm into this Brand I'm feeling these products and Then maybe do a background check by Using your social media now of course There's people using social media for Nefarious means but if you have an
Upto-date really active social media Profile on Instagram Facebook YouTube Whatever it might be that's going to Help put people's minds at ease I know Myself that if I'm looking at maybe a New brand or a new company I've not used Before I will check out their social Media to get a good gauge of whether I Trust them or not now using the social Media as a tool in itself stand alone Very useful very powerful but what if we Could take that social media and we Could also incorporate that into your Website so you add another layer of Trust and social proof directly onto Your website in order to do that you're Going to want to click This video right here
