To continue watching this video please Click agree to accept cookie use on this Video I'll Wait funny how that works out but that's The reality of most websites today if You want to comply to all the different Regulations out there gdpr and all the Different regulations that can affect Your website in a negative way then you Have to be compliant by adding cookie Banners or consent banners or whatever They call on your website and the Consequences of not following these on Your website can be really really brutal In the past year alone authorities have Find over $2 billion to Big brands for Not following these guidelines correctly And just to clarify these regulations That I'm talking about are not new They've been around for a few years now And there are many products and Solutions on the market that can help You comply with these regulations on Your website but there's a huge problem In my search for the ideal solution I Can use to comply on my website with all The different regulations I found five Distinct problems that these products Fall into that will cause you problems Now or maybe in the future the first Problem is many of these products Advertise themselves as cookie consent Banners and that's what they are they're Basically banners on your site but they
Don't actually do the technical work That is required to help you actually Comply with these regulations so it's a Big no no the second big problem is that Too complicated setup I don't want to Get into understanding cookies and how These work and how to block cookies and Blah blah blah if I had development Knowledge I would just build a solution Myself I would rely on these Solutions In the first place so that's a no no as Well the third problem is that many of These Solutions are very very pricey and The worst part is many of these products Charge you based on the number of page Views that you generate that means the More visitors you get onite the more you Have to pay to comply with these Regulations that's like having a tax on Your website the more visitors you have The more you have to pay doesn't make Sense to me the fourth problem I Discovered is that many of the solutions Didn't have the right featur sets for me To understand what's going on and I can Control what I want to happen on my Website that's also a huge problem Because I don't want to break the Functionality of a website if I just Want to comply with the regulations and The fifth problem I found is that many Of these Solutions are SAS spaced that Means software as a service that means Lot of the data about user consent what
They agreed to blah blah blah whatever Data is being captured is actually Stored on their servers not on your Website now if you're trying to comply With privacy regulations it doesn't make Sense for having all the data hosted on Someone else's server right so today I Want to introduce the perfect solution To you one product that solves all these Problems is very affordable and you can Install it on your website without the Help of a developer and start working Instantly the solution is called WP Consent so the website for WP consent is WPC consent. Something we'll use to activate our Plugin as well so once you have that Ready you can go into the site and go to Plugins here plugin section and click Add new plugin which will take us to the Plugin Edition menu so I'm going to go Here to click upload plugin and since This is here or we can see it here I'm Going to drag my plugin file directly From my computer like this let it go Here and click install now say take a Few seconds to install the plugin so Let's wait for that to finish so plugin Is install let's also activate It and as soon as you install and Activate the plugin for the first time You'll take uh or you reach this Onboarding visit and this onboarding Visit takes care of all the heavy Lifting view so you don't have even have To go to the settings and figure out What to do this is a very very Structured program I say a choreograph Process through which your plugin will Be entirely set up for you let's go Through the process so let's get started And the first thing that you'll have to Have is your license key ready so I'll Just click and enter my license key Let's click verify your key and once Again the license key is available Directly inside your account just can Copy paste directly from your website or Inside your account right so the plugin
Is now activated with the license key And the next thing you have to do is Just click scan your website and this Process will automatically scan your Website for any scripts or any things That actually use cookies or uh save User data so let's run the scan and see What happens all right so scan is Complete in just a few seconds and the Service has found uh or W consent has Found three services on our website that Set seven cookies so let's go to report And we'll identify which plugins or Which scripts to block before consent is Received let's click okay all right so We have three essential functionality we See comments we see WB forms and we see Facebook pixels so what we can do is we Can autoconfigure these based on Whatever uh the recommendation FLW Consent is now if you're not a expert in Regulations and probably no one is then Auto configuration is the easiest Process because it'll decide for you What's the safest course of action when It comes to uh providing consent or Providing or using the cookies before Consent is arrived so unless you know Exactly what you're doing and what the Regulations are and what you can do I'd Suggest that just go to auto configure Selected and everything will be set up For you and by the way this is not Limited to just three services for
Example I'm just using Facebook pixel But you can have the metap pixel you can Have any other tracking data like Microsoft Clarity or Google analytics or Any other marketing pixel or retargeting Pixels from Google or meta pixels lot of Different uh scripts can be loaded External services Solutions can be Loaded on your site uh so all that will Actually use this uh or will be scanned With WP consent and be autoc configured For you so that's one of the best best Uses or as the best positives of WP Consent that it does all this easily for You and you don't have to even Understand or be an expert in the Regulation process so uh since this is Already done let's click Auto configure Selected and configuration is done and Now we can decide what kind of banner we Want to show on our website so we have Some uh options here we have the long Banner which we can see the Demonstration here we have the floating Banner which is like here and in the Floating Banner you can have choices From left top right top left bottom Right bottom and you also have the model Banner so you can just cover the entire Screen I stick with the floating banner And I'll just go right bottom I think It's just the easiest so I'll stick with That and I'll say save and complete Setup and now you can see that the
Plugin is actually completely configured So that's how easy it is to start using This plugin pretty cool stuff so let's Take a look at some of the settings that You can configure and understand that You can use the plugin to its full Potential so we have some uh let's say Basic steps that you can follow here on The screen to complete the process so he Has the first is website scan which we Did and the cookie Banner which we have Already done then we have automatic Script uh blocking which we can enable I'll go to the settings and show that to You and we also have the cookie policy This is also important so I'll show you How to that get that done as well so Let's head to the settings first I'll go To here inside WP consense menu entry I'll go to Settings and you can you see here we Have the license key and then have the Cookies configuration and let's look at The settings here so the first option is The consent Banner so enable display the Consent Banner so if this is enabled That means the banner will start showing Up if you want to Temporary disable it You can disable the setting like here And the banner will be disabled Temporarily you can enable this and you Also have script blocking so prevent non Scripts from adding cookies before Consent is given this is very important
For example Google analytics and Facebook pixel unless you enable this Option they'll automatically start Setting is on the site even before Getting consent from the user which Might or might not be a problem but it Sounds like a huge problem so if you Enable this unless the user provides Consent the scripts or these scripts Will be temporary blocked and then They'll be enabled once the consent is Given and the best part about WP consent Is that once consent is given it doesn't Have to reload the page which provides a For a terrible user experience so you Click and it just works all right then You also have settings so if you enable This then even after consent is given Users will see a setting option on the Screen that they and click temporar I'll Disable this next option is Cookie Categories now this is very important What you can do is create different Categories for your all the different Services use and then categorize them so Users can actually give consent only for Certain things for example in essential Settings we have the WordPress Commons Feature right you need to use that and If you log into WordPress basically Cookies are required for you to navigate Through any pages so those are essential And then some some statistics for Example the Google analytics pixel is
Actually statistic kind of pixel because It captures Anonymous data by the users But then marketing pixel is like the Google retargeting pixel or the Facebook Or metap pixel because it's essentially Used for remarketing and retargeting Services so you can configure them and If you have more categories on your Website for something else then you can Add new categories here as well and then Reorganize things about hey which cookie Falls under what category so that users When they give consent to a certain Category then only those scripts will be Loaded so that's pretty easy to do for Anyone Layman I can understand it Probably you can understand as well not Very complicated and you can change uh The um title and the description here if You want just click the pencil or the Pen icon and you can configure the Settings differently then the next Option is the cookie policy now this is Very important for you to have on your Site but it might be a little Complicated for most people to set up That hey this is what cookies we set and Everything so what uh WP consent does is It allows you to just create a page on The flag it's very easy to do so what I'm going to do is do first is actually Save the settings first so that any Changes we made actually save or save on The website and I'm going to go here to
Pages and I'm going to click here called Uh add a new page and I just open a new Page up here and on this page I'm just Going to create a new page and I'm just Going to call it cookie policy now you Don't have to actually create the entire Policy by hand just have to add the Title first so I'll just go here Cookie policy and on here in the actual Page content just type in the short code Or just type in the the block or add the Block for short code so I just use the For/ shortcut and I'll just type in Short code and the short code block is Nowed now what is the short code we need To add that I'll just go back to the Previous page and I'll just scroll down Here and this is the actual short code So if you copy this and just paste it Here your job is done so all you have to Do is make sure this SP is published and Once this published now we can use or Select this cookie policy page inside WB Consent and the page and everything else Will be set automatically so if you go Here and I'll refresh this page so I can Actually find the page here and I'll go Here just search for cookie so I'll just Click here and now this page is actually Set for cookie policy so let me save Those changes again and just to Demonstrate how the page looks like if I Go here and actually open this page for You if I open this again in a new tab
You'll see this page is actually live on The website and this shows all the Different plugins and cookies not Plugins but cookies that we use so you Can see this is the cookies this is the Cookies this is the cookies this is the Cookies and marketing pixel everything Else and by the way you can already see That WP consent is working on the site By giving the notice already let's go to The settings first and I'm going to show You how to configure the rest of things And it'll give you a live demonstration Of how this works so going here back to Settings here we already set the cookie Policy page then the consent duration is Also something you can set so default is 30 days and you also can enable I think It's enabled by default as well consent Logs so any user that provides consent To have the data captured it'll be Tracked here and you can go inside the Consent logs and actually configure and Actually see the data as well then you Have Auto scanning so if you keep Continuously adding plugins to your site And adding Services then you can have This autoc scanning feature enabled so That WP consent will scan and just autoc Configure based on how you set it uh all The different uh status for the scripts I suggest if you ly change and add Plugins then you enable this and you can Change the scan interal from daily to
Weekly basis or even monthly basis so Just for demonstration I'm going to set To weekly and I'm going to save my Changes so the settings part is done let Me also demonstrate uh geolocations First and consent logs and I'm going to Actually demonstrate how this works on Site so going into geolocation this is a Powerful feature so you know that Different regulations are for different Regions for example gdpr is primarily For uh European uh Union citizens but Not for other citizens around the world So different countries impose different Set of regulations so what you can do is Enable the geolocation here and then Enable this as well that means EU Visitors display a cookie Banner for Visitors from Europe and what you can Also do is that hey these countries have The strictest regulations and some Countries don't have very strict Regulations for example India might have Regulations but they're not enforced or They're not as strict so what you can do Is you can go here and select an option That hey I want to display the cookie Banner for only these countries so you Can select the USA Europe or if you have Customers only in a certain region and Rest of the region you don't actually Serve customers but you have content in The website and visit on the website Then you can ignore those people at
Least I'm saying in terms of ignoring uh Not show the cookie Banner to them but Only customers that you serve in a Certain region can be shown this kind of Cookie banners Because unless users Transact on the website you might not Have any kind of uh personal data being Captured so this is again a feature that Already exists and it's very Straightforward to configure for anyone Using W consent so for now I'll just Skip this part and because I'm not Configuring this and I'll head directly Uh to the scanner here so I'll just go Here in the menu W can send and go to Scanner and inside the scanner you see Now uh all the different data that is Already compiled with through the Scanner so WP can send scanner website So three services were detected and Seven cookies were used last scan Cookies configured and next schedule Scan as well so all the data is already Being shown here so basically now you Can go here and configure things Differently again if you wanted to that You saw in the onboarding process so you Have the comments you have WB forms and Marketing so you can select all of these And you can also say hey prevent non Scripts from adding cookies before Consent is given so I would recommend Doing for all any marketing pixels but You can configure things differently and
Again I'm not saying uh that if you have This check the cookies will be blocked I'm saying if you enable this then WB Consent will figure out that hey if this Cookie is necessary or basically before Or can the script work before consent is Given so doesn't mean that this script Is disabled it just says Hey W consent Is is making the decision about blocking This cookie or not so that's the basic I Say functionality side of ly consent but You also have the design options to Configure your banners in different ways So let's go through that as well so if I Go to the banner design option here Inside the menu entry here you can Configure the banner how you like so you Saw the basic layout feature you can Also change the text and the colors and Everything else so you see here this was The same option we saw on the onboarding I just set the banner as a position here So this I'll not change but if I go to Style options here I can basically Configure the different I say complete Overall appearance of the banner so I Can choose the background color text Color font size custom buttons that Means what the button size is Roundedness of the button button style And the button colors and the cancel Color and the background colors so if You have let's say a certain theme to Your website you can completely
Configure how the banner looks like Complete control I'm going to attach the Settings because the banner already Looks great in my opinion going to the Content side here we also can change the Messaging so if you see this is the Messaging we use cookies to improve your Experience on the site by using the site You consent to to let's say I want to Change this to consent to use of cookies Right so it's how easy it is to make any Changes of course I can change the style And the font size and the alignment all That good stuff directly from here and You can also have different kinds of Buttons you can have reject button Accept button uh preferences you can Upload your own logo and you can show And hide the WP consent uh powered by Feature as well and you can also disable Enable buttons and change everything Else and you can reorder them as well so Right now this is the order if you want To change things around you can do that So basically everything about the banner Is completely customizable change font Change colors te change the position Change the messaging change the buttons Everything is configurable and it's Pretty powerful stuff and anybody can do It so once all the configurations has Happened let's go to the dashboard here And on the dashboard we can see all the Things are now completely set up so
Couple of things were not checked first But because we have checked everything Now it's completely set up on the site So we have the website scan cookie Banner automatic script blocking cookie Policy set and you can see all the Different data about website so let's Actually check the plug-in and action How it works so for this demonstration I've just added the Facebook pixel as Part of let's say the marketing in or Non-essential pixel so I can demonstrate How W consent actually works on the site So I'm going to do is just copy the URL Of this website here and I'm going to Open an incognit window so I can Demonstrate things right so it's Incognit window I'll just resize it Properly and I'm going to just open the Website up all right so let's open the Website up and wait for it to load all Right so the website is now open so if I Open the console and don't worry cons Console is not a scary place you don't Need to worry about it I'm opening the Console up in the browser directly to Show you exactly what kind of cookies And preferences actually work and how They work so just focus on my mouse Poter here so you see cook is here if I Go to section here by the way if you Want to follow along and test this out Yourself just press F12 on your keyboard On Chrome or on Mac or you can also just
Right click in any area and just click Inspect this will open up the inspector Or the console and inside the inspector You have to go to Application and inside application you Have bunch of settings just go scroll Down to storage and you'll see cookies And inside the cookies you have the Actual website you order and this is Where you'll see what kind of cookies Will be set so right now let's say you Have accept reject and preferences if I Click reject you'll see a cookie should Be set in a Second it's done so you see WP consent Preferences essential true because Essential settings or essential cookies Have to be uh set statistics false and Marketing false so it's basically all Three categories that we had it recorded That hey user rejected the use of Non-essential uh cookies so that's being Stored here right now and before this Consent was captured no other cookie was Set so no Facebook pixel cookie no other Cookie was set which is very very Important all right so since this is Incognito if I close this and open it Again I can demonstrate what happens When we accept cookies so I'll close the Incognito window and all cookies will be Deleted I'll open incognito window once Again and I'll just oops uh let me just Click on it all right resize and let's
Open the website again and this time I'm Going to accept cookies and you'll see a Big difference so once again I'm going To press F12 to open the console go to Application and now I'm going to click Accept so let's click accept and now you See instantly not only did you see WB Consent essential true statistics true And marketing true as well but now the Facebook pixel is also firing on the Plage so fpp is Facebook pixel and you See the value of the Facebook pixel also Being loaded so only after consent was Given was the Facebook pixel loaded of Course this works for any other Marketing pixel as well this is very Very important if you want to actually Comply with the regulation so that also Works now now let me demonstrate a third And essential part which is preferences So I'll just repeat the process once Again close this and for this I can Actually open uh this in the regular Browser don't need to go Incognito Because I haven't accepted cookies on The main website as well so if I open This now I can see the same Banner again Again now I've already showed you what Happens if I click reject what happens If I click accept but what happens if You click preferences well click Preferences this is where users can Actually configure or select which are The cookies they accept or they want to
Accept I already demonstrated this in The settings part where you can create Different categories and this is how it Works so if you want to hey work with Essential cookies these cannot be Disabled because they are basically Required for the functionality website So they cannot be disabled but for Statistics people can say hey hey I Don't mind some Anonymous data being Collected about myself but I do mind Marketing data so I can say hey I'll Select this but not this or if I say hey It's all right I like to be ad Advertised to especially with products That I care about so I'll just click This as well and based on this you can Save your preferences and now the cookie Should be set again so if you want to Check this out we can go back again and Now you see a bunch of different queries Because uh this this is where I'm Actually logged into the site as well so You see more cookies than usual all the Different settings and everything is Configured on the website but only after Consent is given is the Facebook pixel And other marketing pixels are being um Or cookies being used by the as well so That is the most powerful feature I say Why WP consent is the best solution on The market for providing or using or Complying with the regulation when it Comes to any kind of Privacy Law and you
